Another common debilitating condition known as plantar fasciitis. Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of the ligaments on the bottom of the foot. Typical symptoms tend to be a sharp/ stabbing in nature, and are normally felt at the heel and under the arch of the foot.
Patients normally report the pain to be worse first thing in the morning which improves with movement. Plantar fasciitis is normally caused by repetitive strain, wearing of incorrect shoes, excessive walking or running. Improving the mechanics of the foot can help alleviate the condition. Treatments such as deep tissue massage, rolling a tennis ball on the underside of the foot, as well as physical therapy can all help with the recovery of plantar fasciitis.
